Welcome to my gallery.

A few years ago, I developed an interest in raytracing. Simply put, this a process where 3-dimensional computer models are given surface attributes (such as color and  shininess) and rendered by a computer program which is capable of "tracing" light from its source to the computer's "camera".

I started using freeware programs like Povray, but eventually moved to other programs like New Tek's Lightwave  and Caligari's Truespace.   My desire was to eventually work on animation projects, but the time required to do these on my sub-HAL9000 computer was too great. So, I focused on stills images.

Personally, I like art that is interesting, but not pretentious.  I do try to give my work some meaning, I suppose. And I am gratified when I learn that someone has taken the time to study something I've created to try to discern some meaning from it. But I believe that art is best when it works at a variety of levels; from the profound to the simply stunning.

For the most part, my projects are experimental. I like to play with composition and color.  But rich detail is my favorite tool to describe the scene. You can probably tell that I'm a fan of the contemporary and often oppressive artist H. R. Giger. And I find Frank Frazetta (famous for his Conan illustrations) inspiring as well. But I have a great love for the work of Maxfield Parrish and N. C. Wyeth.

The subjects I've posted on the site are limited to Fantasy and Science Fiction, but I like to explore a variety topics in my art.

This gallery includes some of my work - most of which is several years old.  You can click on any of the images to the left to see a larger version, and a brief description.
